Special Easter Concert featuring the voice of mezzo-soprano Jennifer Brisk. With songs also by Rev Simon Tillotson (Singer-Songwriter) and violin and recorder pieces by Hannah Parry.

Jennifer will be accompanied by Mark Heller on piano. She will be singing songs from various composers including Handel, Bizet, Mozart, Puccini, Offenbach, Delibes and Lehar.

Jennifer Brisk was awarded a full scholarship to study for her Masters degree (2010) in Performance after gaining a 1st for her Music degree at Canterbury Christ Church University and completing a BA in Literature at the University of Kent. Jennifer is now an experienced recitalist and performer singing with operatic and chamber ensembles both in the UK and abroad.

She has appeared with Birkbeck Opera, Intimate Opera, Co-Opera and Lighthouse Opera as well as in her own ensembles and as a soloist for prestigious events such as ‘Orchestra in a field’ with Charles Hazelwood (2011) and as guest soloist at the 6th&7th International Green Awards helping celebrate Prince Charles’ Lifetime Achievement Award (2011/12).

Jennifer has performed in the Deal festival and Canterbury Festival, was named the overall winner for the Kent Festival in 2009 gaining a bursary, and was also awarded bursaries from the Beerling Trust and the Seary Trust and monetary prizes from the Alan Parnell competition. Jennifer has studied with Ameral Gunson GSMD, Rosalind Plowright OBE and now works with Theresa Goble GSMD; she has coached with Professor Stephen Wilder RCM and Christopher Gould RAM.

Jennifer is also a part-time music teacher for choirs, ensembles, schools, theatre groups and private students. As an active charity worker she has organised and performed in a multitude of national and international fundraising concerts including Save the Children and the International Green Awards for whom she is a representative.

MARK HELLER - accompanying Jennifer on piano


Mark Heller is a well known concert pianist, based in Deal, Kent. He has been playing the piano since the age of 5, and studies with the prestigious Bulgarian concert pianist, Lora Dimitrova in Biggin Hill.

Mark focuses largely on the classical repertoire, and has a special love of the music of Bach, Mozart, Schubert and Rachmaninov. He performs regularly in the south-east, and runs a monthly classical music concert series at the Astor Theatre in Deal. He is also a renowned accompanist, and has worked with some of the top singers in the region

REV SIMON TILLOTSON - singer, songwriter and also team vicar of All Saints and St Peter's churches, Whitstable

 
Simon received his musical training as a chorister at Jesus College, Cambridge, when he was growing up as a child in Cambridge. He plays piano, guitar and clarinet and started composing in 2002. Since then he has produced two CDs and written a number of hymns, many of which are sung at All Saints Whitstable. For many years he was accompanied on cello by Chris Haydon, who sadly died in 2007, and whose work is featured on some of the songs on Simon's CDs. HANNAH PARRY
 

Hannah Parry is 15 years old and lives in Whitstable. She is a pupil at Kent College, Canterbury, where she has a music scholarship. She learns the recorder with Debbie Porro, and the violin with Franky Thornby.
Recorder highlights include winning the Marlowe Young Musician of the Year Competiton (2010), finalist in Canterbury Festival Foundation Young Musicians’ Bursary 2012, and leading a quintet at the Schools’Proms at the Royal Albert Hall (2010). As a member of the Whitstable Recorder Ensemble, Hannah has enjoyed playing in Borken in 2010, in Cologne at the European Recorder Teachers Association Conference in 2012, and many times at the National Finals of Music for Youth.
Hannah is a member of Kent County Youth Orchestra and leads Kent College’s school orchestra, Senior String Quartet and Folk Group. Hannah also enjoys the singing with senior choir, which is currently rehearsing for a performance of Karl Jenkin’s “The Armed Man”.
